We’ve written here and there about form-based zoning, a major element of the Forward Dallas plan that’s intended to bring more classically-styled, walkable neighborhoods to the suburban frontier that is Dallas.
Today, after months of back and forth at City Hall, the council is expected to pass a compromise plan crafted by council member Ron Natinsky.
The zoning is expected to make it easier for developers to build something other than big-box stores or single family neighborhoods without applying for a complicated and costly “planned development” from the city.
Of course, for it to work developers will have to apply for the zoning. It isn’t clear yet whether they will. But if they do, get ready for a new look in many areas of Dallas.
Follow the jump for the details of the new zoning ordinance as pulled from today’s agenda.
